You Break Through

I've been coming here for years now. When I first started coming to Dentists of Mukilteo it was OK. I was considering switching because every time I would go in I would see a different dentist and sometimes that meant I had to answer the same questions over and over again. I expected they would be able to look at notes from the previous visit or something. Anyway, they've since got a new owner, and I've had the same dentist since she became the owner (little under a year now). Dr. Tatyana is phenomenal. One thing I immediately noticed is she really loves her profession and cares a lot about the quality of care she gives. One example, is when she took ownership she double checked everything on my chart to make sure it was accurate. I have gum disease so the levels of my gums is really important to be accurate and something that was important to me because I wanted to make sure the amount of brushing / flossing I was doing was enough to at least slow it down. Another example is when I was asking her about braces. So long story short I got one of my teeth pushed in really bad during a BJJ session. I've put off addressing it for years because of the cost and was finally looking for a solution since I had the money at the time. I went to a few different dentists actually and then came to her and told her I was shopping around. She recommended I don't get braces and explained she can achieve the same with liners. I was skeptical about this because at first it occurred to me as she was trying to sell me on liners because she doesn't do braces. I asked her a bunch of questions to understand the mechanics around liners and why they would work for my situation. She was incredibly knowledgeable and communicated the details with clarity. I obviously don't have a dental doctorate and I appreciate how patient she was at explaining these details. I ended up going with the liners and I'm so glad I did. Braces would have required way more maintenance and teeth shaving to achieve what liners did. The liners are taking longer than braces would but I'm in no rush. It also forced me to have good habits with brushing and flossing that I can now use after I'm done. I'm very happy with the results so far and I'm very glad I listened to her advice. Yet another example of Dr. Tatyana's commitment to excellence in her craft. So recently I came in to check the progress of my liners. I'll be honest I haven't been paying much attention to the progress of the tooth I've just been doing the work (brushing / flossing / wearing the liners) and letting the result come. She asked me if I was happy with it currently. I admit I hadn't looked and was like "seems fine". She looked and she said she wasn't happy with the result. So, we did another scan and ordered more liners. When I went home and looked it definitely needs more work. I would have gone home, looked at my tooth and then made another appointment to ask to keep going with the liners. Just the fact that she was like "we can do better" speaks volumes to the quality of care she strives to provide at Dentists of Mukilteo.
